Amazing Life Force Energy:
This Bee Pollen is arguably the finest pollen in the world - a claim we don't make lightly.  It has been biologically and energetically tested by Gabriel Cousens, M.D., Director of the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center, and discovered to be amazingly highly vibratory with life force energy - higher than any other food ever tested!!!  Imagine what it does for you when you eat it!  We have shared it with many raw food "gurus" and enthusiasts who are unanimously astounded by its superior qualities in every aspect - flavor, crispness, vitality, and purity.  It is truly unlike any other pollen you have ever experienced.  Tasting is believing! It is at the top of the list of Vivapura's "Seven Superb Superfoods"!

What Makes Jarrah Bee Pollen so special:
  • From a 1 million acre natural preserve of Jarrah trees - no conventional agricultural or environmental contaminants to affect the bees and the trees they pollinate.
  • Ethically hand harvested by aboriginal descendants.
  • A pure-strain pollen - from a single plant species.  It is this quality that makes it tolerable by many who are historically allergic to bee pollen.
  • Specially dried, completely removing all moisture - this helps retain all the nutrients in their highest state since fermentation and rotting does not begin to occur. Does NOT require refrigeration.  Great for travel.
  • Absolutely crisp texture that pops in your mouth with a wonderful delicate, sweet flavor.

FAQs:

Are any bees harmed or killed?
Bees are never intentionally harmed by the beekeeper. Bees do frequently die due to natural causes. Average bee life in the summer is around 30 days (60k bees per hive - that is a lot of replacements).

Are the bees kept in 'captivity' or just roaming the area freely?
They roam free.  Which is the reason that as a “vegan” company we do promote certain bee products from what we see as ethical beekeepers.  We make sure we receive our information first-hand and that are suppliers share our passion for ethical bee products.

Is there pollen left after collecting for the bees to sustain there hives?
Bee’s are always given free flight (no pollen traps) every other day when pollen traps are on, otherwise they will stop collecting pollen.  (They also stop collecting if the beekeeper gets too greedy).  In addition, a large portion of honey is left in the hives so the bees can feed on what they collect during the winter.

What about the bees' lifecycle?
Queens are normally killed naturally by the bees themselves or die of age/natural causes.  Requeening may happen with weak hives or splits in the spring, but this is usually in addition not as replacement. However there are cases where the queen must be removed for the good of the hive, whether by the beekeeper or the bees themselves. This is because if a hive weakens and the queen is dying she must be replaced before the hive swarms or dies.  There are situations where queens and bees are destroyed so the beekeeper can take all the honey and not over winter the bees.  Then they just re-queen in the spring.

What kind of accommodations are the bees provided with?
The hives are standard 3 box 7/8 frame hives that the beekeeper builds for the bees to live in rent free. They trade for honey and pollen.

The "Pollen Cycle" is as follows:
  • Pollen is collected from traps on average twice per week (giving free-flight, without pollen traps, between collection periods).
  • Pollen is stored frozen (mostly collected within 200 km.) until drying that day or early next day.
  • Pollen is weighed and placed in dryers.
  • Dryer is started and is set to dry only the trays containing pollen. Temperature is preset to supply air at 45 degrees Celsius (113 F).
  • Time of drying varies depending on quantity of pollen and moisture content, which varies significantly, but in general each 10 kg takes about one hour.
  • Pollen is taken from dryer when cool and put through a primary screen to remove large particles and any bees.
  • Then pollen goes into main cleaner which is similar to a grain winnower.
  • From the main cleaner the pollen goes immediately into a freezer at -18/20 degrees Celsius (minus) for a period not less than 7 days.
  • Process may be repeated as necessary.
  • Pollen is then stored in air tight conditions until it makes its way to happy pollen eaters - that's You!
